To say 2007 was an eventful year would be understating it a bit - and we're even busier as we jump into the New Year!
The BIG BREAKING NEWS. . .
. . . is that on May 6th I won the 2008 MAC Award for Outstanding Male Vocalist - very cool!

We premiered Quiet Stars at The Metropolitan Room last fall and had a glorious run and a couple of great extensions. I just wanted to send out a special note of thanks to Lennie Watts, Chris & Steve Mazilli, Michael Barbieri and everyone at The Metropolitan Room for always making me feel like I have a musical home in New York! We'll be back soon!.
We'll also be bringing shows to various destinations around the country in the coming months. So, if you'd like us to bring a show to you, all the details are on the By The Booking page.

You've probably deduced from the image above that I'm a cover boy - Cabaret Scenes magazine contacted me for an interview after caching a show over the summer. Next thing you know they're asking for a bunch of pics. Turns out they made me the cover feature for October! Recent covers: Marin Mazzie & Jason Daniely, Carol Channing, Diahnn Carrol, Faith Prince, Me. Not too shabby!
They tell me it was one of their biggest sellers. But they've got a few copies saved in backstock, so if you missed it on the news stands, you can visit Cabaret Scenes to order a copy. Or, if you're content to just read it online, there's a PDF version saved on MySpace.
Some other great theatre, cabaret and sundry showbizzy events are coming up. So, if you'd like to be kept informed, send a note via the Contact link and we'll put you on the mailing list.
The OTHER big news is that we've finished the studio sessions for the Original Cast Recording of "my baby" Words Words Words & Music and the CD should be available very soon! For a sneak preview, click on the album cover to check it out:

We're all very pleased with the album and hope you agree that it captures the fun, humor, artistry and glorious musicianship of the brilliant cast members from the original production.
This is the place to keep track of all the current projects, as well as get the inside scoop on what's coming up in the future.
Another cool aspect of the site is that it has tons of archival information. You can learn about the most recent productions as well as step into the "Way-Back Machine" and catch me with Duran Duran hair. . .
There are resumes and bios, headshots and demo clips for visitors who are industrially inclined, and great galleries and information about projects past and present that are near and dear to my heart.
If I have my way (and I usually do. . .) you won't find tons of quotes screaming the praises of all things Miles the minute you visit the site. I'm sure they'll be in there somewhere, but you'll have to dig a little. . .
;-)
You can always get information on whatever the latest recording project is. There are a couple of new studio cast recordings I've just completed:

I'm really pleased with the new recording of COMPANY! Robert is a favorite role of mine and I was thrilled to lay it down for the record! The reviews have been wonderful, and I'm personally very touched by the response from fans and industry insiders. I received a note from Sondheim's publisher, telling me that with this COMPANY I established myself as "one of the very, very few definitive Roberts and important theatre voices." How cool is that, right?
We also just got a great review on TalkinBroadway:
"The performance of Miles Phillips in the lead is excellent - fully realized, very present and nuanced. His Bobby is more vulnerable and accessible [than the also reviewed performance of Raul Esparza on the Broadway Revival recording]. The 'Barcelona' duet with Christina Bianco is a real scene: they mine its numerous twists and turns that have comic potential and it's truly funny. The revelation here is Miles' riveting performance of 'Someone Is Waiting,' full of longing and desperation, with emotional complexity."
Rob Lester - TalkinBroadway.com
It's available at Colony and such places, but you can also order it at Amazon.com.
Some other great albums recently hit the shelves - I played Judge Turpin on SWEENEY TODD and had a grand time chewing up some delicious scenery as Applegate on DAMN YANKEES! And I had a blast playing Lumiere in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. The critical and fan response to my turn as Georges on the new LA CAGE AUX FOLLES album has been truly flattering and particularly heartwarming, as I loved recording those beautiful songs! And my take on The Wizard on the new release of WICKED has been generating a lot of "wonderful" buzz and reviews. Lots of fun recording roles I love. Thanks, to everyone who has been saying all those nice things!

And of course you can always learn more about (not to mention BUY. . .) my debut live album of "might as well be. . ." I'm very proud of this album, as it's a very intimate, live recording of a specific show at a specific moment in time. The show meant the world to me, and the fact that so many of you have embraced it and praised it touches me very deeply.
Just click on the For The Record button, or the links above for a wide selection of samples and reviews.
They've got "might as well be. . ." and a lot of other great music as well.
Now, I must sign off and leave you in the much more technologically capable hands of the webmaster. But I hope you enjoy the site and explore to your heart's content.
Best Wishes!
Miles
